COLEBRIDGE TOMAHAWKS 6 v WEST MIDLANDS PHONES 4 – by Neil Wheatley.
Two debutants in the Bromsgrove/Redditch Division 1 season opener at Colebridge
Phones’ new recruit, veteran Alan Cotton, who began his table tennis career at the Shirley Club, certainly made his mark, winning his 3 singles, including an 11-9 final game defeat of last season’s Individual winner, Awais Muhammed, and partnering Roger Ellerington to a successful doubles win. It seems likely that Alan’s quick hitting game will trouble more than a few players this season.
Tomahawks‘ newcomer is a talented junior, Jake Crawshaw, who has replaced John Overton. Jake made a steady start beating Ellerington and Don McAdam, matching Awais and Neil Wheatley, who did likewise, although Neil’s defeat of the former was a 4 game marathon 15-13, 11-1, 11-13, 19-17.
