A few pictures from the AGM2015 (12/06/2015)
Colebridges fifth AGM took place on Friday night, June 12th. Colebridge President Lorely Burt was late in arrival , a discussion of her continued tenure in her post was underway as she did so. She assured the meeting that she would like to remain President , and turned the question around , asking if the membership wanted her to remain as club President , given that her influence is not what is was before the events of May 7th.
The consensus was that Lorely should remain in her role , particularly as she may now have more time to devote to the Colebridge cause. Once this matter had been resolved , matters turned to club affairs.
Unhappily , the minutes from last years AGM have been irrevocably lost and so there could be no vote on their accuracy as a true record. Moving onto the financial report , Treasurer Mark Hadley gave a summation which leaves Colebridge funds healthily solvent.
All officers of the club were re-elected en bloc , although acting Honorary Secretary Neil Wheatley made it clear that he would not be continuing in this position beyond this year.League and Membership Secretary Ben Willson then introduced to the meeting new , simplified membership options. The new adult membership fee will be £110 , there will be an additional fee should a member wish to play league table tennis.Young members between the ages of 19-24 will pay a fee of £40 p.a.Junior membership will be available for those 18 and younger at the cost of £20 p.a.The visitor fee will rise to £5 , or £3 if the visitor is under 18. All league players will need to be members , apart from exceptional circumstances, as approved by the league secretary.
These changes , and others, were passed with a majority vote.
The main business section of the evening being concluded , the presentation of awards was next on the agenda.Sophie Rinnhofer was awarded Young Player of the year 2015. She has had a remarkable year, winning , amongst other things , the Leamington Closed Under 11 AND Under 13 Girls Singles. She repeated this feat at County level , winning the Under 11 AND Under 13 Girls Singles at the Warwickshire Closed Championships. Not stopping there , Sophie won the Under 11-14 part of the regional qualifying round for the National Cadet event , finishing the Under 11 and Under 12 Girls Singles in 1st place. It is worthy of remark that Sophie is still only 10 years old , and celebrates her eleventh birthday next month.
Well done Sophie, on a richly deserved and thoroughly merited award. Amir Van Eekelen is Young Member of the year 2015.
Head coach Ed Lynn paid glowing tribute to Amir ,citing his outstanding attitude and helpfulness , an example for other young members and a credit to both himself and the club. Senior Player of the year is Ed Lynn. Ben Willson , in introducing Eds award , made reference to his ability to ” keep on winning table tennis matches ” , and Ed has had a memorable season , helping Colebridge Aces to runner up spot in Birmingham , and a title win in Leamington , although he would probably regard his win in the Mens Singles at The Birmingham Closed as an individual highlight.
Congratulations Ed , from all at Colebridge.Barry James is Club Member of the year.
The 75 year old is an invaluable asset to the club , be that for his cheerful demeanour , his tireless application to tasks both large and small , whose responsibilty he undertakes without bidding, the award is entirely commendable and justified. Congratulations , and thanks, from all at Colebridge.
The meeting concluded at around 21.20.
